Transformers 2, why oh why??

OK is anyone else as disappointed as I am that a second Transformers film is being made? Now I understand that people are entitled to their own opinions and all that, which is fair enough but to a true lover of the art of film making both the first installment and as I’m positive the second are/will be absolute shit.

Transformers was basically a brainless, plot-less, pop- corn action flick to appeal to simple minds (no offense). Although it did achieve that goal, considering it was Michael Bay who directed I don’t expect much from him. There was no substance in this film and it was basically a 2.5 hr commercial.

Transformers 2. My God what a poor attempt at a script. Predictable, petty and simple, kind of like Michael Bay. Audiences can only really expect one theme to be carried out in this film, revenge. Kind of like Arnold in most of his action flicks expect done with more style flair and better CGI. Why they are making this film I don’t know, how much product placement will be shown this time, probably a lot more then its previous counter-part.

Either way if you’re interested in a movie with substance, a good story and a powerful execution then this isn’t worth your time, otherwise knock yourselves out!

7 Step outline of City of Sorrow

Premise

Redemption is harder to come to then most people think. Especially when drinking is second nature and love doesn’t have its way.

Set up

His second home a bar, the once famous and heroic cop of the city reduced to an alcoholic. Six murders committed, Detective Jason Reids is the head cop of the case, he has a knack for finding serial killers and this is right up his alley.

Inciting incident

The 6th murder victim found in an alley. Det. Reids gets right to it, although even after 6 murders there is little to go on.

Act one plot point

With Jason’s condition worsening, there are talks of having him suspended. This doesn’t bode well for him, he’s the only cop who is able to figure this one out.

Mid-point

After the useless witness Wilson, the case is going nowhere. Jason cant get a grip on things and decides to drown himself in alcohol. To his surprise Laura calls and his sense of hope is somewhat restored.

Act two plot point

After the confession of the supposed killer, Jason is keen on investigating into it further as his instincts tell him something is amiss. He convinces the chief to give him time to figure this out. He knows after some time he will crack open the case.

Climax

A dead body accompanied by a deranged woman at the front of the police station. The display of chaos thrown together by Eric the serial killer. Jason finds out the most important bit of news about the case, Eric is his brother.

Resolution

Reacting to the shocking news, Jason is unsure of what to do. This will be explored in the second part of the series as at this point nothing has been resolved only a crucial part of the story has been discovered.

New movie releases.

Hi there, this will be about a few new movies that are being released soon. Firstly though Tropic Thunder was kick ass! Saw it on monday, yeah baby!! outstanding movie, great acting by Downey Jr and Cruise as always, funny story, good twist, definitely worth a watch. OK now onto these new movies which are being released,

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor- this has SHIT written all over it, just another useless part of a franchise, to be honest the franchise shouldnt have been made in the first place but oh well people gotta make money some how….. i say dont waste your time and money, i know i dont want to see Brendan Frasier act like an eccentric retard, ive got better things to do and geez the story i mean come on a blind monkey could think of something better.

Quantam of Solace- this looks fucken amazing! im glad that the Bond franchise is taking an exciting and interesting new turn, and the fact that they’re actually following the novels is refreshing, this looks action packed with a good story and seems like Daniel Craig pulled the character perfectly off yet again..

Babylon A.D- really am looking forward to this, should be a big hit, story seems solid for those who don’t know what it is go to imdb.com and take a look. Good to see Vinny back in a good old action flick this should be pretty kick ass!

Death Race- OK I think throw up is a good way to describe what this will be like, to be honest I dont really even feel like downgrading this movie cos its shitness speaks for itself, keep away from this one folks.

Now onto something else, the movie Watchmen based on the graphic novel which is also called Watchmen surprisingly enough DUH! may not be released due to legal issues. The judge has denied the motion for WB (warner bros) to dismiss the lawsuit Fox has against them for the rights to the whole film. This is indeed grim news for Watchmen fans all we can do is hope itll work out and Fox will refrain from being tight money grubbing fuckwits for the salvation of this film.

That is all for now……

The importance of story in a movie.

I would like to stress the importance of story in a movie. I was having a discussion with a mate who shall remain nameless about the importance of story in a movie. To the wider audience, the naked eye, story has barely any meaning to them what so ever. This saddens me greatly because people miss out on the meaning of a movie and only enjoy it for its big stars and special effects. What’s funny is that the actors they see up on the big screen play characters which are an integral part of a movie. Story itself though receives no appreciation, its like it has no value. Screen writers spend a hell of a long time writing screen plays so that you the audience can have some sort of enjoyment out of a film. Story is the essential key between a movie being absolute rubbish and oscar gold. The first 15 minutes are there to key an audience wanting more, keep you suspended.

Anyway I wont speak anymore of this, I just hope that next time you go and watch a movie you can appreciate the story for what it is and try to see that there’s a deeper meaning behind movies then explosions, special effects and big hollywood actors.

Scene breakdown for my major movie project.

Character bios and the first 5 scenes of the scene breakdown.

Character biographies

Synopsis- In a town where crime has taken over and the wicked rule, a cop whose hit rock bottom is on the path to redemption. After losing everything that has ever meant anything to him, Jason must resurrect himself and once again be the hero he was. He is after what may be the most prolific killer the city has ever seen. This killer is meticulous, calculating and precise; he makes it a number one priority to never leave any evidence for the police to follow on. The killer is Jason’s brother.

Jason Reids- Having faced a lot of adversity, Jason has hit rock bottom. He is drinking, not concentrating at work; he is depressed and can’t bear life any longer. He feels disconnected with the world, as if he has given up all hope, he feels there is nothing good left in the world. He is desperately seeking a way to redeem himself. A case which is impossible to solve, something, anything to get him out of this slump he is in. He has lost faith in people, if he cannot trust his loving ex-wife then who can he trust. He hopes that solving the series of patterned murders that have been occurring, he can somehow reclaim his place in society and return to being the noble and honourable hero he once was. Although the trials he will have to face will be difficult for him, in order to win the battle over evil he must overcome his problems. He must also eventually come to grips with the fact that his brother is the very murderer he’s been following.

Eric Reids- Sadistic and utterly insane, he kills for the pleasure and thrill of it. His agenda though is to get the attention of his brother Jason. Eric wishes to show his brother what he has made of his life, that he can achieve “greatness” in the form of death and mayhem. Although he does make it hard for his brother to find him, by leaving no trace of himself anywhere and by constantly changing his appearance, address and other factors that would identify him. He wants Jason to pay attention to him mainly as a compensation for the lack of attention he received as a child. Basically Eric is the poster-boy for the criminally insane, he displays every emotion of a psychotic with little trace of humanity in him.

Laura Jensen- A new addition to the homicide squad. Working under Jason, she wishes to prove herself and show him that she is damn good at what she does. Feeling an instant connection to him, this is something she feels she must explore further. Knowing little of Jason’s past she feels drawn to help him in his present at the same time letting go of her spiralled past.

Script breakdown

SCENE 1 INT BAR                                                                                                NIGHT

After sinking down a fourth scotch and coke, Jason gets a phone call. It’s dispatch, another murder has been committed and he’s needed on the scene. Jason pays his fee for the drinks and begins to leave. Just as he is doing so he receives another phone call, it’s his ex-wife asking about the alimony payments. After a few minutes of painful conversation Jason finally hangs up and leaves the bar.

SCENE 2 EXT ALLEYWAY                                                                                NIGHT

He arrives at the scene and proceeds straight to the body of the murder victim. It’s a young woman no older than 20 years of age. The same style of murder as the previous 5 cases he has been following, no surprise there. Head and fingers dismembered, legs broken, lacerations made into the torso, the victim was also raped. Again as before, it appears there are no traces left of the murderer. The police bag and tag the victim and Jason heads back to the police station to file a report and investigate the remains in the hopes of maybe finding something, some sort of clue as to who has been carving mayhem in this once peaceful city.

SCENE 3 INT POLICE STATION                                                                      NIGHT

Jason begins to go over the little evidence that has been found, scrapings, blood spatter, connections between the victims, anything useful. (montage of Jason investigating, and looking into the murder) After hours of working Jason has gotten no further then when this case first opened up, he decides to retire from the night and go home.

SCENE 4 INT JASONS HOUSE                                                                          NIGHT

It’s 1am and Jason is drowning himself in Scotch. The pressure of the case and his life in general is weighing down on him. He feels like he is slipping. The scotch feels soothing to him, it’s an escape from a reality he doesn’t want to face.

SCENE 5 INT JASONS HOUSE                                                                               DAY

It’s the next morning, Jason is hung-over and reluctant to go to work. He takes two aspirin tablets and goes to shower, after doing so he makes breakfast. It’s 9am, he’ll be late for work but that doesn’t worry him, what does is the missed call he sees on his phone which was made from a with-held number. Knowing he won’t be able to find out who the number belongs to he heads off to the station.
